If they happen to meet and have fun there then that shouldn't mean they are not serving the country.

@@xx133 Taiwan, Japan or the Philippines were under US influence as well, yet their attitude is completely different, the first in the list legalized same sex marriage in Asia first, so come up with a better excuse and find another scapegoat.

@@smacijs completely different contexts and history. I’m speaking specifically to US history in SK. Also, in all cases, remember that the US wrote their laws and it was prohibited until recently. This is just historical fact. Furthermore, Taiwan only legalized in 2019. It’s not like it was 50 years ago. It is still not legal in Japan or the Philippines. Japan and SK are very similar in their acceptance. *all countries mentioned were more accepting of lgbt before US/western involvement* . In some cases it was encouraged. The only thing they didn’t allow were official marriages. Also, It was only when the US passed its laws on marriage that the acceptance was allowed to trickle down to its vassal states. As a matter of fact, after that happened, the vassal states were instantly seen as “backwards” and outdated. Now that the US is rolling these things back. Taiwan will be seen as “backwards” and “woke”. Just watch how the right in the US will push the country to become more reactionary and fas… they’ll even use the same talking points and slogans. It’s also not the first time this would have happened. Same occurred in the 50s-60s, but that’s a broader discussion on US interests and strategy in the region over the past 120 years.

Same sex marriage already existed in Vietnam, only that it was only ceremonial and not yet legally sanctioned. Lots of such marriages were shared on RUclips (Come Out LGBT Vietnam & Love Wins).

“The west” is not only the US and UK. I’m proud that I’m from a country that legalised same sex marriage as the first, and even that was long overdue. And what is that nonsense that kissing is a western invention? Kissing was first invented in Asia (Rig Veda and Kama Sutra does explain that) and the Middle East. Only later, that practise came to Europe.

@@cb1636 first, thank you very much for saying that another comment is nonsense….. very respectful of you for the opinions of others I do not really know about India and when I talk about Asia like most people, I mean the far east. I haven’t heard people say they are going on holidays to Beirut in Asia. And now that I have explained this I have travelled many times to Asia and actually all over the world (not only in almost 20 years that I work to carving crew but so on private trips). I do not know how many Asian people you have kissed but I can assure that even if they say that they love kissing, they do not kiss like us I have kissed a few dozens. If you travel to Japan, China, Cambodia et cetera you can ask older people about kissing and you will hear how they tell you that they didn’t do it even having sexual intercourse and it was not repression, it was just their culture, not bad not good, just the way they are.

Little by little China stopped this and started frowning upon same sex relationships they this continued for many years until the West again decided that China was wrong repressing homosexuality without remembering that they had started this because of the west.
